What’s the most important thing you learned about social media marketing, when you used to work in the field?
I’ve learned a lot of things, I don’t even know what I should start with.
I learned how important words and images are. Good content and a perfect picture or video can really get your business attention. The most important social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn, give you the opportunity to make an impact on your audience. Also, with the fine-tuning that’s happening in social media marketing, businesses can target their content so much better than they used to. The more you know about your audience, the more efficient you’ll be in your communication.
Also, robots have started to play an important role in messenger marketing. This is a huge trend that’s going to evolve even more in 2019.
How has the way to see email marketing changed since you came to ZeroBounce?
Actually, I don’t know how much it’s changed, but I can say that since I’m with ZeroBounce, I became really passionate about email marketing. Email has grown tremendously as a marketing channel in the past few years, and it continues to do so. It’s probably never been as important for marketers to build email lists, nurture them, and develop their content strategies around them.
As many of our readers know, email has surpassed social media in terms of lead and revenue generation. Almost everyone on the planet has an email address, but not everyone has a social media account. So, to answer your question, I guess I’ve started to see the lucrative quality of email, too, and how email validation is essential in this equation.
What’s your favorite email marketing trend right now?
One of the most important trends in email marketing right now, and my favorite, is email validation. There’s a lot of talk about data quality, and that’s a very good thing. Marketers have realized they can’t accomplish their goals without validating their leads first. It’s a necessity.
Growing a large email list is a great goal to follow. But we need to make sure those leads represent genuine people, potential customers. We all want to avoid bounces, reach our customers’ inboxes, and have higher open rates. Email validation helps marketers be seen.
How would you explain email validation to someone who’s never heard of it?
I’ll try to give you a simple answer by making a comparison.
Think of the email validation service as the tool you use to clean your house. If you want to have a clean house, you have to make the effort, and most of the times you use different tools. It’s the same in email marketing, where your email list is your house, and the email validation platform is your cleaning tool.
Email validation refers to the process of confirming that an email address is active without sending an actual email to see whether it bounces or not. We all want to have only valid users in our databases. Unfortunately, over the years, people change their jobs, or they simply change their email addresses. That being said, an email list, no matter how healthy it was at the beginning, becomes risky to your email marketing.
What does risky mean?
It means you’ll have invalid, inactive, duplicate, spam trap, and catch-all email addresses in your list. No marketer can get any use out of this type of contacts. And they’re not only useless, but they also have a negative impact on your sender score. So while you may think it’s ok to keep emailing them, they actually derail your entire email marketing strategy and ruin your performance.
Email verification tools make a huge difference when it comes to keeping your bounce rate under control, and increasing your open and click-through rates. It is one of the most important steps of a successful email marketing plan.
